Rupnagar Press Club Celebrated the National Press Day

National Press Day celebrated Rupnagar, November 16

Rupnagar Press celebrated the National Press Day by organising a function in the press club premises today. Rupnagar Improvement Trust chairman Dr.R.S.Parmar was the chief guest on the occasion.

While addressing the function Dr.Parmar felicitated the media fraternity on the occasion of National Press day .

He expressed serious concern over the degradation of moral values in every sphere of society and urged the media persons to maintain moral values in journalism.

Dr.Parmar also expressed concern over the increasing commercialisation of the media.

In his address District Public Relations Officer Harjit Singh Grewal said that in view of the fast changing scenario of Information Technology, it would become difficult for the the print media to survive adding that there was an urgent need for the print media to change itself accordingly.

He also stressed the need for the more coverage to the problems of the rural areas.

Highlighting the importance of the day Rupnagar Press Club president Bahadurjeet Singh said that National Press day is celebrated every year on November 16.It is the day when Press Council of India started functioning in 1966 as a moral watchdog to ensure that not only did the press maintain the high standards but also for safeguarding the freedom of press,he said.

Press Club Secretary Rajinder Saini,chief advisor Satish Jagota also spoke on the occasion.
