Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema visits Rupnagar Press Club

Rupnagar, September 12

The vocational education scheme launched by the Punjab government in the state recently,would be introduced in 500 more schools next year,said Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema while addressing a function at Rupnagar Press Club.

He said that this year the scheme had been started in 100 schools and expressed the hope that it would prove to be successful and beneficial for the students.

He said that since books relating to vocational education were in English,the education department got them translated in to Punjabi for the facility of students.

Cheema said that efforts were being made to improve the standard of education in the state and to provide quality education to the students in government schools particularly in the rural areas of the state.

He said education department would take concrete steps to check the menace of copying in the school examinations in the state.

He also appealed to the people to donate liberally for providing relief to the flood ravaged people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Cheema also announced a grant of Rs.5 lakhs to the press club .He also inaugurated a gym installed in the press club.

While speaking on the occasion Rupnagar Press Club president Bahadurjeet Singh said that a media centre equipped with computers,fax,printers and telephone would be set up in the Press Club for the facility of media persons.He thanked Cheema for providing grant to the Press Club.
