National Press Day Celebrated

Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema being honoured on the occasion of National Press Day celebrations by the members of Rupnagar Press Club.
National Press Day Celebrated
Rupnagar, November 16Media plays an important role in forcing the governments to take right decisions,said Punjab education minister Dr Dajit Sigh Cheema while addressing a function organised by Rupnagar Press club on the occasion of national press day on Monday.

He said that electronic and print media in India was a great power and pursue the any issue sincerely to take it to logical conclusion. “Media build such a pressure that the governments are forced to take right decisions”,Cheema said. He said that social media had made every person a reporter ,who could disseminate any information instantly.However ,social media had also become a source of misinformation ,which can create social tensions.
Cheema said that an attempt was made to create trouble in Punjab through social media during the last several days particularly from abroad by resorting to misinformation campaign.
He expressed the hope that with the passage of time people would shun the negative use of social media. Cheema lauded the efforts of Rupnagar Press Club in celebrating the National Press Day and announced a grant of Rs. 5 lakhs to the club.
In his welcome address Rupnagar Press Club president highlighted the importance of the National Press Day. Rupnagar Municipal Council president Paramjit Singh Makkar,Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh memorial college Bela managing committee secretary Davinder Singh Jatana, Netaji Model School director VP Saini,BSP leader advocate Charanjit Singh Ghai,former public relations officer Rajinder Saini,Rupnagar press cub secretary Satish Jagota and vice president Satnam Singh Satti also spoke on the occasion.
