Rupnagar Press club celebrated the World Press Freedom Day by organizing a function in the press club complex today.
Rupnagar SSP Inder Mohan Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.While speaking on the occasion he lauded the efforts of Rupnagar Press Club in organising the function to celebrate the Press Freedom day.
He said that being fourth pillar of democracy media are playing important role in creating awareness among the people on various issues for ensuring justice to affected persons .
Former Rupnagar Improvement Trust Chairman Dr.RS Parmar urged the media persons to perform their professional duty in a fair and fearless manner.He said that media must play a proactive role in highlighting the problems of the people for their prompt redressal.
Earlier,In his welcome address Rupnagar Press Club president Bahadurjeet Singh highlighted the importance of the day and called for concerted efforts to stop the attacks on the freedom of media from various government and non government quarters.He said that Rupnagar Press Club was committed to discourage the practice of yellow journalism.

On the occasion Rupnagar Press Club also honoured BS Balli on his retirement from 32 years of service in Public Relations department of Punjab.
