Rupnagar Press club holds Cultural Evening



Rupnagar,December 24 Rupnagar Press Club organised a Cultural Evening and Felicitation function at local Canal Rest house on Sunday Night. Punjab Minister for Health and Family Welfare Madan Mohan Mittal was the chief guest on the occasion while Rupnagar MLA Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema presided over the function.

While speaking on the occasion Mittal lauded the efforts of the Rupnagar Press Club in organizing the cultural evening and felicitation function.

It may be mentioned that members of District Press Club Khanewal(Pakistan) were scheduled to attend the function,but due to delay in clearance of their visas,they could not make it to the programme.

Mittal also lauded the efforts of Rupnagar Press Club for establishing contacts with Pakistani media persons for strengthening Indo-Pak relations.

He said that there was need to increase people to people contact between India and Pakistan for improving their relations ,which would be extremely beneficial for Punjab.

Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema also echoed similar sentiment. Earlier,Rupnagar Press Club President Bahadurjeet Singh welcomed the guests. Mittal also announced a grant of Rs.five lakhs to Rupnagar Press Club. On the occasion Mittal,who belongs to Rupnagar town, was specially honoured for his contribution in the field of politics.

The Press club also honoured Rupnagar MLA Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema,former minister Dr.Romesh Dutt Sharma,Gillco Group chairman Ranjit Singh Gill,Suncity MD Baghel Singh and advocate Harmohan Singh Paul on the occasion.

On the occasion Punjabi Sufi Singer Kanwar Grewal enthralled the audience with his popular Sufi numbers including ‘Sahmney hove yaar tan nachna painda hai’, ‘Nan jaain mastan de vehre’, ‘Challa’, ‘Gidha tere Ishq dw adhin ratin painda aashsqan de vehre’, ‘Aisi been vajaa ve jogi’, ‘Sun faqran vehre tumba vajda’.
