Rupnagar scribes hold protest against Gauri Lankesh’s murder
Rupnagar, September 7Members of Rupnagar Press Club staged a demonstration here on Thursday to protest against the killing of noted journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru few days back.
The journalists gathered at Press club and raise slogans demanding arrest of killers of Gauri Lankesh.They expressed solidarity with the media persons of the country over the issue
Earlier,the journalists observed two minute silence in the memory of Gauri Lankesh.
While addressing the gathering Rupnagar Press Club patron Gurcharan Singh Bindra and senior vice president Satish Jagota condemned the killing and termed it a direct attack on the freedom of press.
They demanded immediate arrest of the accused and stringent punishment for them. They also demanded that the people behind such heinous crime should be exposed.
Rupnagar Pres Club secretary Satnam Singh Satii demanded adequate security to the journalists who are facing threats.
Press club members Kaiiasj Ahuja and Sarabjit Singh also spoke on the occasion.
It was also decided to send a memorandum to the President of India through deputy commissioner Rupnagar.
