Rupnagar Press Club celebrated the National Press Day by organising a function in the club premises today.
Rupnagar MLA Dr Daljit Singh Cheema was the chief guest on the occasion while Rupnagar SP(H) Harmeet Singh Hundal was guest on honour on the occasion.
In his address Cheema lauded the effort of Rupnagar Press Club in celebrating the National Press Day.
He said that media was playing important role in a democracy and urged the media persons to shun negative tendencies.
He said that media was a powerful tool for a social change and it should use the power with great diligence. Besides this media had also a great responsibility towards the society.
Cheema assured every help to the Press club in its various endevours.
Highlighting the importance of the day Rupnagar Press Club president Bahadurjeet Singh said that it is the day when Press Council of India was formed in the year 1966 as symbolic of free and responsible press in India.
Former Rupnaar Improvement Trust chairman Dr.R.S.Parmar,senior lawyer HS Paul,Netaji Model School director VP Saini,Rupnagar Press Club secretary Satish Jagota,patron Gurcharan Singh Bindra also spoke on the occasion.
