National Press Day was celebrated at Rupnagar Press Club on Thursday.
Rupnagar senior superintendent of police(SSP) Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu was the chief guest of ton the occasion.
While addressing a function organised on the occasion Sandhu lauded the efforts of Rupnagar Press Club in celebrating the National Press Day.
He said that media had an important role to play in the society and media persons must perform their duty with responsibility.
He said that print and electronic media faced a challenge from the social media,which was increasingly becoming a mode of getting immediate information of any happening or event faster than the print and electronic media.
He urged the media persons to play a positive role for the betterment of the society.
While speaking on the occasion Rupnagar Press Club President Bahadurjeet Singh highlighted the importance of the day.
Former Rupnagar Improvement Trust chairman Dr RS Parmar,advocate Charanjit Singh Ghai,advocate Harmohan Singh Paul,Rupnagar Press Club patron Gurcharan Singh Bindra,senior vice president Satish Jagota,secretary Satnam Singh Satti, treasurer Surjit Singh Gandhi and member Rajinder Saini also spoke on the occasion.
