Rupnagar Deputy commissioner Gurneet Tej has exhorted the media not to indulge in sensationalism while carrying the the news.
While addressing a function organised at Rupnagar Press Club on Wednesday she said that media, being fourth pillar of democracy ,had an important role to play in the society.
It should not sensationalise the news to create misunderstanding and panic in the society.
She said that media should show greater responsibility while n reporting sensitive matters.
Deputy commissioner lauded the efforts of Rupnagar Press Club in constructing its own building.She urged the
Press Club to set up a library for which she would provide every type of help.
While speaking on the occasion Rupnagar Press Club president Bahadurjeet Singh highlighted the activities of the Press Club.He said that a high tech media centre had been set up in the Press Club and a mini conference room would also start functioning soon.
Rupnagar Press Club patron Gucharan Singh Bindra,senior vice president Satisg Jagota, secretary Satnam Singh Satii and executive member Rajinder Saini also spoke on the occasion.
