Manish Tewari flays Modi govt for convening parliament session without agenda
Rupnagar,September 1
Member of Parliament from Anandpur Sahib constituency Manish Tewari has strongly condemned the convening of a five day special session of the Parliament from September 18 without issuing any agenda by the Narendra Modi government .
He was speaking to media persons during Meet the Press program of Rupnagar Press Club here today. He said that holding parliament session without releasing the agenda is a violation of the spirit of the Constitution.
On this occasion, he also said that in today's era, the time for conducting the meetings of the parliament session has also been reduced. Due to which the elected representative of the people on any issue gets very little time to speak about the particular subject whereas the requirement is that the session should last at least 120 days (four months) in a year as it used to be. Whereas today the session lasts only for 45 days in a year. He said that this necessary amendment should be made in the constitution, the session should last at least 120 days in a year.
Tewari said that after independence, the country has adopted a secular constitution without any discrimination and rising above the caste divide to give everyone equal opportunities to move forward but after coming in to power in 2014, the Modi government has shelved the spirit of the country's constitution. Keeping the same thing in mind, all the anti-NDA political parties of the country have united to protect the constitution and democracy and formed the I INDIA block so that the endangered federal structure of the court can be maintained .
He said that of course INDIA bloc is a conglomeration of different ideologies. But the only aim of all of them is to restore the spirit of the country's constitution by coming together in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He expressed hope that INDIA bloc r ta will fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country. All the parties involved in INDIA bloc will rise above their different ideologies in the interest of the nation and oust the NDA government from power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Tewari was guarded in replying a question about the statements of Congress leaders of Punjab that Congress would not have any truck with Aam Aadmi Party in the Lok Sabha elections saying that the main aim of all the opposition alliance parties is to oust Modi government from power and the parties must show maturity and magnanimity and follow the 'alliance dharma'.
Former chairman of Punjab large industrial development board Pawan Dewan was also present on the occasion.
